A couple of the con sketches I did at the FX show this past weekend in Orlando. forgot to take pics of a couple others, but the show was kind of slow and boring...not helping at all was sitting under the vent for the air conditioner all weekend. so now I have a sore throat and cough. thanks FX!
for the supergirl, I was asked to make her a redhead...wish I went with a green background color instead.
The snow white...I was asked to paint her naked. no big deal for me. as for her...trimmings...the guy getting the sketch was bald, so i thought it would be funny to make her that way...I had more things planned for this one, but he was done at the show and wanted to leave so i wrapped it up pretty quick.
Storm...i just wanted to do something silly. since so many other artists have made her look more elegant than I ever could.
the last one is 'Z'. Scotty Shoemaker's [link] character from his long-awaited comic Marshmellow Robots. I always liked this design of his and on sunday when things were a bit slow, painted this one for him. hopefully this'll get him moving on finishing his comic.
all of these were painted with watercolor. supergirl was 12x16, the others were 9x12.
thanks mike. bravery and stupidity are commonly mistaken for each other. i've only had one spill (and that was another artist who knocked my water cup over) but i've had plenty of close calls. didn't realize you were on DA. love your work.
Yeah, the open water at the table is what scares me the most. It is pretty amazing what artists are doing as "con sketches" these days though...artist alley has become like a giant working art studio. The days of quickie pencil sketches are over, Damn you Adam Hughes
